Subject: Feature Suggestion – Animation Capability for Pinned Maps (for Screen casting Use)
Dear Windy.com Team,
Firstly, thank you for providing such a powerful and visually stunning weather visualization platform. Your service has become an invaluable tool for many professionals, educators, and enthusiasts alike.
I am writing to propose a feature enhancement that I believe would significantly expand Windy's utility, particularly in educational and broadcast settings:
Proposal: Enable Animation for Pinned/Saved Maps
Currently, pinned locations and custom saved maps are static in nature. While the core map interface offers excellent animation for weather data (e.g., wind, temperature, radar), saved or pinned views do not support direct animation.Use Case:
For those who conduct screencasts, live weather briefings, or tutorials, being able to:Save a specific zoom level, layer, and location
Return to it later
And animate the data (e.g., wind flow or precipitation over time)
...would enable a consistent, reusable visual setup that supports professional-grade presentations.
Suggested Features:
Allow animations (e.g., time-lapse) on saved/pinned mapsOption to auto-play animations upon opening a saved map
Export or share animated view via link or embed
Benefits:
Enhances the educational and media broadcasting value of WindySpeeds up content creation for regular users
Makes the platform even more attractive for institutional or academic use
I hope this suggestion aligns with your vision for Windy’s growth and user experience. Please let me know if any additional feedback or clarification would be helpful.
Thank you again for your exceptional work.
