      I have noticed of late the large number of reporting stations that are wildly inaccurate, we are currently sailing around the world on a catamaran and have extremely accurate instruments to report the weather/environment and have been very disappointed with the amount of stations near by that are so far from accurate it is dangerous.

      I know of many occasions where people are using the stations to decide whether or not to take on a particular task only to be completely let down by the inaccuracies or out in danger.

      Is there not someway of vetting these reporting stations to insure their accuracy thus aiding the forecasting and users to make safe, calculated decisions based on accurate reporting ?

      Just as an example there is a weather station at the lighthouse in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil which constantly undergrads wind strength and direction, two days ago we passed the light house in 27kts of wind and the station there was showing 2kts from the opposite direction. One of many examples we have seen in the past two years.

        Hi @Brendan0386, thanks for sharing this information.
        We're sorry to hear that you've encountered inaccuracies in data from some stations. You can partially influence the reliability of certain stations through your settings – though you may already be aware of this option.

        The abbreviation PWS stands for Personal Weather Station, meaning a privately owned weather station. These are often less accurate, as their installation doesn't always follow standard guidelines for representative placement.

        As for stations marked WMO, they are not directly operated by the World Meteorological Organization, but their data is part of an international exchange system. WMO sets the measurement standards and data-sharing protocols, so such stations are generally expected to be reliable.

        The station at the lighthouse in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, belongs to this network. If its values consistently deviate from reality, it may be worth contacting the station's operator, most likely the Brazilian meteorological service INMET.

        We're cheering for your journey around the world, wishing you a smooth sail and the best wind in your sails! Jari

          @Jari-Sochorová
          Thanks Jari.
          I am aware of the different stations was just hoping there was a way for the administrators to maybe contact the station operator to see what's happening but not to worry it won't slow us down.
          Thank you for your reply, have a Great day.
