Short summary of pressing bugs
-
Dear Windy-team,
I just summarized what in my view are the most urgent, current issues with your tool when it comes to wind forecasts (referring to the browser app):
-
Make sure, that data on map and data in tabular forecast (lower part of screen) are consistent
-
Allow users to change model when in wind mode.
-
When selecting a model with a rather short forecast duration, in tabular forecast at lower part of screen please still show the complete forecast data for other models, which might have a longer forecast duration. Do not restrict models with longer forecast, I need to see the big picture.
-
When selecting ICON-D2, please do not mix up the other models with ICON-EU (see tabular data in wind mode when selecting ICON-D2...).
-
When selecting ICON-D2 and extending the forecast table with ICON-EU for this model, please allow in wind mode to move slider also into the range of ICON-EU. Currently I can move the slider only to the end of ICON-D2.
Please consider fixing these on short notice.
Also, with respect to the mobile app:
-
Allow users to select location via tap, not via the awkward crosshair. Possibly let user decide, which mode he wants to use.
-
Let user deactivate any auto-zoom features.
I regularly use Windy as a paying user since many years. And it is tragic, how many inexplicable bugs appeared recently. I guess, some things that I considers as bugs are seen as "features". But you really need to take care, not to mess up your formerly perfect tool.
Thank you.

@Ftjwinfs Thank you for the summary, all issues related to the point forecast table and wind section are planned to be released with the upcoming update to v.47.
Unfortunately, the rest is not planned now, but I will keep both suggestions so we can suggest them in any upcoming plans for any bigger updates/changes.

@Suty I just checked version 46.1:
Resolved issues:
- Make sure, that data on map and data in tabular forecast (lower part of screen) are consistent:
- When selecting ICON-D2, please do not mix up the other models with ICON-EU (see tabular data in wind mode when selecting ICON-D2...).
- When selecting ICON-D2 and extending the forecast table with ICON-EU for this model, please allow in wind mode to move slider also into the range of ICON-EU. Currently I can move the slider only to the end of ICON-D2.
- When selecting a model with a rather short forecast duration (ICON-D2), in tabular forecast at lower part of screen please still show the complete forecast data for other models, which might have a longer forecast duration.
Thank you for resolving these issues!
Still open issues:
-
Allow users to change model when in wind mode. Currently I still need to go back to "Basic" to switch the model and then switch back to wind-mode. This is very awkward.
-
In wind-mode do not restrict models with longer forecast, I need to see the big picture. E.g. in basic-mode ECMWF gives data for 15 days into the future. In wind mode this is restricted to 7 days. Please show full forecast in wind-mode as well.
You mentioned, that all issues regarding the forecast table that I noted before will be fixed. Will the currently open items be fixed in v47?
-
@Ftjwinfs They will be fixed probably sooner in next minor version during this summer.

@Suty
Here another bug that falls into the field wind/map/tabulated data:"Wind-mode: Wrong data shown on map when selecting e.g. ICON": https://community.windy.com/topic/41048/wind-mode-wrong-data-shown-on-map-when-selecting-e-g-icon
Please consider to fix this as well as soon as possible.
-
@Ftjwinfs Do you talk about wrong data between the table and the circle on the map, when ICON model is open in the detail?
-
@Suty The circle in the third screenshot is not from me, it was shown in Windy.
I'm talking about the issue, that in wind-mode it is not possible to show data from other models on the map, but that Windy switches map-data automatically to ECMWF (without notifying the user), although the user might have selected a different model before switching to wind-mode.
