Adjustable town/city labels

Apologies if this has already been raised in another thread, but my search didn't return anything relevant.

Depending on the scale/zoom being used, the quantity of town and city labels can be quite distracting, for example:

I appreciate that the labels could be useful for other users, so my suggestion is to introduce a setting which would allow the user to adjust the quantity of labels, perhaps by hiding "minor" locations, and only leaving the "major" locations (which currently appear as a larger font size) visible.
