Hi Guys ive used Windy for a few years now
And ive found it to be a great source of information As iam a boat owner ,but recently your information has been hugely disappointing, as for instance todays forecast in Blyth North of England your app is saying 12 kn and its actually hitting nearly 50kn ,and we've had this happen on more than one occasion, is there a problem at your end not being able to upload the correct weather, I sign up every year and pay for this but its becoming increasingly wrong on forecasts ,and using this to plan weather windows is becoming increasingly problematic could you please look into this issue
      Thank You
      A Hannant

      Ash

        Hi,
Do you check all models available in your area? Or are you only looking at the default model (ECMWF).
Apparently there is no weather station in Blyth but there is one in Boulmer. It shows that for strong winds prediction the UKV model is may be the best.

Then you are talking about a 50knot-wind that was not forecast in Windy.
However you know that in Windy “Wind” refers to the 10-minute average wind. So in your case, during 10 minutes the wind would have been fluctuated between 40 and 60kt for example.
But if it was a just sort of squall, burst or gale during 2 or 3 minutes, you need to consider “Wind gusts” in Windy.
