Gale force winds, totally missed.

Canal Flats, BC sitting in Gail force winds. Windy totally missed it. Listed as a 3-4....an easy 5-6+. So accurate last year, this year......so bad.

I dont know what wind speed units you are using. You are talking about Gale force. “Gale force” in the Beaufort scale is 34 knots and more and it is the average wind over 10 minutes. So nothing to do with a squall, a burst or a gust.
Then Canal Flats is in a narrow valley surrounded by mountains. In such a location there is no chance that a medium resolution model can forecast accurately the wind. I guess you are using the default model in Windy, the ECMWF model.
You need at least to check the high resolution regional models. There is no weather station in Canal Flats but there is one no too far in Cranbrook airport. This weather station reported recently 26 kt wind gusts not more, but it is not the same location.
The "Observation vs forecast" feature shows that HRRR and NAM models were the best at predicting a correct wind.
There is a MADIS weather station in Invermere. So you may check it too.
