After selecting the favorite position it automatically dissapears from the screen the moment a different layer is selected. How to fix this?

To amplify, as one selects different backgrounds|data representations the position(s) of interest gets lost in the data.

I suggest placing a flag(s) or |con(s)of user selectable color(s) for each location of interest that stays on top of whatever is being displayed.

In planing a trip, A to B, colorized (user selected) markers (user selected), that remain at the top most display layer informs the user how the wx changes at those spots.

It has proven ineffective to simply position a location in the screen center due to the seemingly endless unintended gestures that do occur as one selects different data displays.

I need to plant a flag so I can maintain my bearings.

Favorites only disappear if you select other POIs. If you only edit layers, favorites remain on the map.

Have you ever tried placing favorites? They stay above any layer colors.
In fact, I understand you would prefer a flag instead of a heart (or a bell when setting an alert for a favorite location) as they are represented in Windy.
With the route planner, you don't need to place icons at the locations where you want to know the weather. You just need to insert waypoints.
