In Funza Cundinamarca, near Bogotá, bad sstellite temperature shows 48° . Cannot be cloud temp and not land temp. Nearby airport SKBO shows 13°

Do you use Fahrenheit temperature scale ?
The temperatures shown in the Satellite layer are those of clouds tops. The higher the clouds, the lower the temperatures.

See here in Southern Germany today -1 °C shown next to +32°C, whilst in reality there in the black forest it now has about 18°.

These 3 crazy weather stations are personal weather stations (pws).
Apparently the owners don’t take care of them.
Windy say it is not possible to remove them only the owner can do it.

Thank you for your answer (merci à vous). With temperatures around freezing point and even at +32°C nearby, it's clear that something is wrong. With less obvious deviations, this can be more difficult to detect and therefore misleading. This seems to be a general issue with quality control.
I removed "PWS" in the settings now, which results in larger gaps of indicated measured temperatures (however, I now there are professional stations close by that are not integrated here). But Windy itself is excellent!

It is what I’m doing too, keeping the professional ones, i.e. airports and WMO.

@idefix37 no, I was using °C. However I am on the Bogotá plain, 2600 m, there is no way temp is that high, I mean temp in a nearby international airport was 13°C , so I do not believe that land temp could be that high (48 °C), even if I was selecting the land between the clouds.

@idefix37 good to know about those uncalibrated PWS. I believe I was browsing around using the INFRA+ cloud layer, and it was not in a single location. Btw, I checked all over the Americas and show the same °48, but only on the app, not the webpage.

If you want to know the temperature at surface (at 2m high) why do you use the Satellite layer ?
The temperature displayed in this layer is the temperature of the cloud tops.
                      https://user.eumetsat.int/resources/user-guides/storm-top-features

Even if you check this brightness temperature between the cloud it does not provide the air temperature above the ground. And this temperature will be different if it is a forest, the dry sand of a desert, a lake or a town.
Have you ever walked barefoot on a beach? You've probably burned your feet on dry sand, but not on wet sand, and even less so in a few centimeters of water. So the brightness temperature will be different for these surfaces and finally have little to do with the air temperature.
So the temperatures displayed in the Satellite are not bad as you say, but it is the way how you use and understand them that is wrong.

Better to use the Temperature layer and to check the forecast temperature, and if available the temperature reported by weather stations.

@idefix37 thank you for replying. Actually I was looking for the temp at the top of the clouds as you mentioned. I wanted to correlate my observations from the ground with the type and temp of the clouds in the uppermost layer. Still, I do believe this may be a type of bug, I remeber using it to check nearby storms. Furthermore, the temp should vary from one place to another but I checked all over the place and it does not change, not one bit, same 48°CFrom cell

                          I can’t see your screenshots.
                          More easy:

I have checked over Colombia the brightness temperatures at ground level, where there is no cloud.
These temperatures vary from 22°C to 35°C.

Thank you for the tip. Indeed the button was hidden from view. One picture that says -3°C is from the website, the other 2 are screenshots from the App. I chose aproximately the same location over Cundinamarca and the other far away in the Amazonas, over clouds.

These two 48°C are just crazy. I don’t know how to explain them. If you need I can show you some screenshots in the same area.

@idefix37 Solved! Solution: oldest trick, just reinstalling the App. It was a local issue, some file maybe got damaged. I will try that from now on if another issue creeps up. I Iearned new things, so thank you!
