External plugins on mobile devices
-
Hi is there any way how to run plugins on mobile device? Thx
-
@Miloš-Ország
Unfortunately plugins are not available on mobiles, unless you use the browser version on these devices. I do it with a tablet. -
It worked until recentely. I have tried different browsers, chcnging user agent, with desktop mode, nothing helped. What browser are you using on tablet that works? Thx

@Miloš-Ország
On iPad I use Safari and I get all plugins.
It would be helpful that you tell which tablet are you using.

@idefix37 @Miloš-Ország @vicb @ivo.
The plugins worked in the mobile browser, if you navigate to windy.com/plugins.
Recently Windy disabled the ability to install a new plugin from the plugin gallery. Already installed plugins still work, but you can no longer install a plugin.
I have reported this to the developers.

@Ortlepp-Enrico
As I said the example I provided is shown on iPad when using the browser version. -
Hi. Try to install a plugin. Not open one that is already installed. I am interested to see if it is possible? I cant on Android tablet, interested to see if possible on iPad.

@idefix37 thanks.
I see. On your ipad the desktop UI is used, not the mobile UI.

@rittels
It is exactly what I explained in my posts here above. I never said that plugins are or were available on the mobile app. -
@idefix37 On most mobile devices (phones and small tablets) the mobile user interface is used when you use the browser, except on large screen devices, when the desktop interface is used. You are right, plugins have never been available in the app.

✅ Workarounds That Actually Work on Android
- Use Firefox Nightly (not stable)
Install Firefox Nightly from Google Play.
In Nightly, you can still open:
about:config
Search for:
layout.css.devPixelsPerPx
Set value to 0.5 (makes your screen report ~2× the width).
Example: if your phone is 400px wide, it’ll pretend to be 800px → Windy renders desktop UI.
access windy.com/plugins , install desired plugin
once you install plugin you can return css setting back and open plugin

Fixed now in version 47. Thanks windy team!!
