      I am presently in Tiree (near Scotland). The large scale map shows the wind coming from the north and flowing south but the localised forecast (for example for Gott Bay) shows exactly the opposite. I would welcome an explanation.

        As you don’t say which model you are using, I checked wind forecast by ECMWF
        On Tiree wind is forecast South East, confirmed by Airport weather station, and further north off Coll, it is North.
        Look like a convergence zone.

          wx. model forecasts wind from 140 / 5 kts
          and Tiree airport reports 130 / 6 kts.
