New version, now 3 speed clown clouds
-
When I encountered Windy at first (2022/23), it had a simple and useable interface for visible and radar tracking with a reasonable number of frames per time interval (20 to 30 per hr comes to mind) for a smooth and comfortable (viewing) animated sequence. Then came the version modifications where the number of frames per interval was greatly reduced, resulting in what can only be described as undulating "clown clouds" in "smooth mode", which were so annoying that I was forced to view it only in raw data mode which is not comfortable for viewing as it is jerky.
The next upgrade removed the animate/raw switch and left only "clown cloud" mode. Next revision it reverted back to animate/raw option, I imagine due to many complaints.
Now this version has arrived and I have measured about 7 frames in a 6 hour span of time (~1 frame/hr) which at certain zoom levels renders only a confusing random mix of various splotches of satellite and radar which is virtually worthless for simple visual tracking of weather in central Florida, and I imaging many other places. And it is now fixed at 3 progressing speeds. I imagine the speeds were added to detract (attempt to mitigate) from the now unusable 1 frame/hr.
It is getting harder and harder to justify the $ spent for a degrading app when the data is still free and usable elsewhere. -
@oakshade We still get same data with completely same frequency, this is only about the visualization limitation. I will discuss it with colleagues on our next meeting.
