Dew point
-
Show dew point in forecast and widget , maybe even have reported dew point
-
@UAHiker
Dew point is already shown as a map layer and in the detailed forecast table (Meteogram). -
that's great and i know about the layers, but honestly it's a pain to change layers and why isn't it shown in the basic, where everyone looks..... i never look in the Meteogram
-
@UAHiker
Why don't you ever look at Meteogram? Is it because it's busier with all the text and data?
That's why I don't look at it first. And that's also why I don't think they should add much more to the Basic - it will just become messy. In my opinion. -
@Wheats
I don't find this table too messy. In my opinion, the Relative Humidity forecast should be added in the Basic table, but not the Dew point temperature which is already available in Meteogram. RH is a basic parameter. -
@idefix37 Agree for the relative humidity on the basic table,something that is being asked by a lot of people here in the Windy community..
-
@idefix37 I could get behind that, instead of trying to interpret the shading on the basic panel, would be nice to just see a number.
-
@Wheats
I think you mean the shading in Meteogram panel because it shows the gap between air temperature and dew point temperature, but not in Basic which only shows the air temperature.
I agree with you. How many users are able to interpret this shading ? How many know that it gives a rough idea of RH ?
Relative humidity is a basic and major parameter missing in Windy detailed forecast panel. -
humidity would be ok, but it doesn't give the true picture of what it feels like outside.... a dewpoint of 70 and 50% humidity is much different than a dewpoint of 50 and 90% humidity, which is why i want to see the dewpoint
-
@UAHiker
I'm not in agreement (not that it matters lol) but I think I read somewhere in the forum this year that they are planning to add feels like and wind chill calculations.
I could be wrong but figured I'd share anyway. -
@Wheats good to know about the future stuff.
don't know where your at but... visit the Midwest or Alabama in July when it's 90 degrees with a dewpoint of 75 degrees, then go to Arizona when it's 105 with a dewpoint of 51..... then come back and tell me which is more unbearable.... so my previous example may not have been accurate to my point but this one is.... the 90 degrees and 75 dewpoint is WAY worse then 105 and dewpoint of 51.... dry heat vs wet heat....
-
@UAHiker
Doesn't matter where I'm at, I'm a meteorologist who lives and travels on Earth lol :p, I know exactly what you are referring to.Maybe I was unclear with my previous post. I don't agree with them adding the feels like and wind chill and would rather see dew point and air temperature. These two parameters are more valuable to me than a calculated "feels like" or "wind chill" :)
All I'm saying is I'm guessing Windy's solution will be to implement the Feels Like stuff and not add dew point to the panel.

@UAHiker
I don’t understand this discussion as Temperature and Dew point are already displayed in Meteogram.
So these parameters are already available in a detailed forecast table showing all values forecasted at each time steps. -
@idefix37
my whole point is showing dewpoint on the basic or i could get on board with relative humidity since that seems to be a standard in every single weather report you look at, no matter if that's your local news, weather.com, accuweather ect... and is more relatable to people who don't understand dewpoint.then personally i'd like the option of having the meteogram show on start up instead of the basic
