Solved Please bring back updated time of each weather forecast model
-
We are planning to update this and add info about the updated time of the model.
-
Hi @Suty thanks for the update, do you already know when we can expect this change to go live?
-
@zlatokoza We will wait for version 48 with this. I think it could be out in a month.
-
strongly support!

I completely agree. This is especially valid for us in places with weather that is complicated by a lot of dynamic factors, e.g. South Florida. I understand if it's too much clutter on other screens, but at least put it on the "Compare Models" screen. This screen is for the user that knows the difference between models and cares about last run datetime.
Overall, awesome product. Thanks and keep up the great work!

The information about update for each model is still displayed on the right side of the “Compare” table. It would, of course, be better to display it on the left side but there is not so much room available.

Oh wow, you are right, @idefix37 .
Since my use case is: what's the weather like in the next 12-24 hours, I 'm never scrolling all the way to the right past the max fcst date to see that. I think it would fit nicely and be more useful on the left.
Ideally as an "## hrs ago". So we don't all have to do Zulu time DST math.
Thanks for the reply!

In what meeting in Windy development did it seem like a good idea to remove this feature?

Hello,
There's usually a label that shows when the weather model was updated. eg "Updated 1 Hrs ago"
This feature is very useful, since my work heavily relies on the weather forecast, and I wanted to know if the forecast data that I am seeing is updated (Not the one that was updated 5-6 hrs ago). Thanks, TravisPleeeeease reinstate this :)
Paying for premium then having to open Model list, select Compare Forecasts, then scroll fifteen days to the right, just to see if this is the updated fcst or not [and still not seeing 'Update xxhours ago'] is crazy. It was perfect in previous version, and your app & site are brilliant, indispensable living in remote location! thanks! K -
@ianspencer It is called Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). When you have too much meetings you forget what is main purpose of your job and what is really important.

Version 47 dropped.
lots of nice new feature+fixes
but sadly, no one interested in fixing the forecast update time :( -
@kavachi tbh unfortunately, I think they dont want it back. If they would want, it would be there already.
They have code for it, they know how to show it.. looks like devs are perusing some trendy clean minimalistic design.
Same is for the model switcher, from something very much working on Desktop browsers now it is annoying.

@zlatokoza Hello, update times will be back in the next version in a few days. We only didn't want to do the hotfix version with this, so we decided to wait for the next standard release.
-
Well, you said you will bring back time update of different models with new version. I see new version but can't find time updates. it still takes more clicks to open different models that I would hope for, but no time update - which was your justification for this unfortunate idea of adding unnecessary clicks to the procedure.
Or, am I missing something? Did you locate it yet in a different area?
Please explain. You sometimes do improvements. Yes. Also you make things worse for no reason. But one thing is clear - you HATE listening to feedback, especially if it is not what you hope for - negative comments about changes. I see long pattern of you ignoring countless voices to bring back better options. You just know better. you love your changes (often cluttering the screen making it less functional), and customers should just shut up. yes? That is the general feel of interactions with your team.
You seem to forget that the experiments you do are on live version, making it hard on customers wo actually pay you money.
Make a beta program, play with things, ask for feedback (and ignore it as you wish) - but please do not constantly change the official version, making it often worse. It is obsession with fixing good things. just because you can, does not mean you should. It is a seriously disappointing approach which I notice over 2 years or so... -

I live in a hurricane belt zone, and we are in hurricane season. knowing if weather was just updated or it is "old news": is vital. much more than large colorful icons you spent so much time and enthusiasm implementing.
This is about reliability, efficiency, and clarity of information for many of us. not about Nintendo game appeal of clicking through. -
@Holoboss
For a very long time, model updates have been displayed-
By clicking on the small circled i at bottom right corner of your screen in the browser version
-
In the menu of the mobile app.
At least you can find the update time, even it needs more clicks than previously.

Thanks for the heads up re that, noted.
Easier than going to the 'Compare Forecasts etc', but I access using bookmarked pages with the forecast view displayed, thus having to close the forecast view [and lose the location] to be able to see that Info icon on bottom right of screen.
Looking forward to seeing update time and 'xx hours ago' coming back to the Forecast view ;) - By clicking on the small circled i at bottom right corner of your screen in the browser version

@idefix37
please see screenshot and enlighten me where is round I icon in bottom right of my screen. And tell me why a return of this function where it used to be, was promised by Admin several days ago?
I am puzzled why you always send users to search where things you changed are, or if they work as before. Why on earth you need to change things so often, when they work well?
my screenshot -
@Holoboss You need to hit the 'x' on the forecast panel to close it (re: your screenshot), then look to where you can select different models on the bottom right. There is an icon in the top line "i" for info.

I currently have the ECMWF model selected as well as the Rain, thunder layer.

@Suty said they are looking to update it in v48....I'm currently on v47.1.4 using Chrome...so as far as I can tell v48 isn't here yet.lol also: Why on earth you need to change things so often, when they work well?
I am puzzled as well. Theoretically, there's a reason.
