Setting Radar replay speed is gone
-
When using the desktop mode, there use to be an option to do the radar replay in slow, medium or fast speed. This morning, that option is gone. Can it be resumed? I love that function.
-
@Hippie02 Hi, unfortunately, this was removed with an update of our interface in this layer. Right now there is no direct intention to provide this again.

@Suty sad to read that this function (which I used often to track weather changes in my local area) is gone now
and since that update I got a massive lag issue on desktop as well
weather radar can only be used on mobile devices now by me, on desktop it takes several minutes to load the screen and then radar is stuck (and as my system is no high end gaming PC I can't upgrade to windows 11 right now so the layers of radar and satellite are basically useless for now)
sure, changes for other new modes is a good idea but when the thing keeps crashing or get stuck and shows a stationary view (and makes massive jumps on the 24 hour mode which it did on the 12 hour view mode as well until you set the speed to slow) it kinda sucks
what starts to playback "kinda slow" (which it isn't) and then switches to race mode when it hits the 6 hour mark... the whole playback of 24 hours takes only 9 seconds... how should you be able to work with this view?
the 12 hour view was fast as well but could be used by slowing down the playback (and as I am living in Austria where our country is not the largest but it was useful to track the weather for 12 hours I miss this function a lot and I only can use it for now on phone which sucks as a desktop view is way easier to spectate)
and when weather data makes a jump of like 50km distance in playback and your place you are living at is basically in the gap it is bad... so you need to manually switch back to 1 hour to be able to see the last hour... but can't see what happened 12 hours ago besides guessing
-
@derKarl oh and by the way, as soon as I try to get a larger view on weather radar (for example the whole country of Austria which isn't this large) it keeps using 95% of my CPU power so I can't have any other program running on my system which is a bit of a bummer when working on something and trying to get weather info besides the one on media
this function actually got worse with the upgrade to be honest

i also miss the simplicity of the former controls for the radar loop, and find the new format to be a huge step backward. Is there a way to return to the previous settings?

Well, then please get on a direct intention to fix this, right now.
-
@Pól-ó-Cárthaigh thinking the same... they should bring back something similar if not the older version of the speed settings and simplicity
tracking weather was nice as you could see if things sped up or slowed down while watching and so you could see if weather was increasing in force or slowing down, now it is IMPOSSIBLE on desktop and always have to check on phone for that kinda sucks
the 12 hours on weather radar were simply a good way to check a long time developement at CONSTANT speed... the new view... total mess

So, that means for me personally, it is not a bug, it is a design fail for some of us customers.
Maybe this change should be reconsidered (for example, make it available optionally).
I (and probably some other people) use this feature regularly. I think the "view count" in the relevant posts (threads) also reflect this.BR.

@cschon Hello, I will forward this thread to colleagues on our meeting today.

Update for now, we will consider potential adjustments in this, however, we want to keep getting data about this new interface firstly.

Hi.
I am happy about the news. I hope it will produce a useful result for us.
BR -
Bring back the replay speed options and get rid of the large gray box that was added
-
Very discouraging to see this removed as a feature. Major regression. Please bring this feature back as it was very helpful.
-
Let me add data about this new interface. Radar speed selection needs to change back. I hope additional comments will help to drive this potential adjustments.

@Suty Please consider the removal of any controls is a downgrade for the user. There is no reason to over-simplify in the desktop use case, as there is ample real estate for these options and it is not constrained by a crowded UI on such a large screen interface.
-
@Suty And, not to be rude, but maybe consider adjustments BEFORE releasing a new interface. If you're going to outright remove a control, poll your users to see how many would object.

@Suty This is a feature that I love to use, to either slow down a replay or to speed it up. It is very helpful in identifying whether a storm is intensifying or dissipating and determining if a storm is heading for us or if it will miss us.
Plus, there use to be an option to view a replay in 1 hour replay, 6-hour replay and 12 hours. Now the 12-hour option has been removed, and we have a 24-hour option. How are these changes any kind of an upgrade? The options are still available in the app on the phone, but not for the laptop, which has a much bigger screen.
As mentioned by other users, taking away a useful feature is regressing. AccuWeather did the same thing, and I dropped them. Please reconsider.

@Suty... Is the brains trust considering still?? As a longish term paying customer of several years now, who has voiced their displeasure at your recent update/downgrade of a fundamental function. Are we now just to accept that we will no longer have the speed option that, by the general reaction and response, is missed and wanted back.
We also seem to have inherited that exceptionally unappealing block at the bottom of the map.
It really is an eyesore. May I ask what purpose does it serve my friend? I fail to see what we have gained with it. -
I'm also disappointed by this change. Honestly, I felt like I was going crazy. This is such a basic and essential feature, I couldn't imagine it would be removed on purpose.
Plenty of room in that giant gray block to add this back.
Unrelated, but I am using Mac Safari "Add to Dock" and it has started signing me out every 2-3 days. Will almost definitely not be renewing.

@ur0ew9apdhijsn Hello, what browser do you use as the default one?
