      An annotation tool would make it easier to highlight and discuss weather features directly on live data — without leaving Windy or using extra apps.

      Especially in a time sensitive situation like weather watch or even just developing a slew of mapped products for an organization. Screenshot-drawing app-dissemination is incredibly time consuming.
      Adding this type of capbabilty could make Windy a go-to for operational meteorologist who have to produce and disseminate products to others as well, not just enthusiasts or sailors or pilots etc.

        There was an annotation and drawing feature available a few years ago. I don't remember why it was removed.

          So it is possible to add an annotation tool, it was just removed 6 years ago.

            @idefix37

            I found the reason.

            "Since almost nobody used annotations, we have canceled this feature as of version 20.9.0"

              @idefix37 I must have been asleep that entire time. I don't remember it lol
              But the ability to draw would be useful. Especially if there are easy to draw fronts, like the kinds you don't have to colour in the wedges on a warm/cold front. If they added a whole slew of drawing features, like fronts, areas of rain, areas of clouds, etc etc.....I feel like I would find use in that, or at least tell people I know who could make use of that.... I wonder if they'd consider bringing it back at all.

                That’s a great suggestion! An annotation tool would be super useful for marking important weather details or sharing notes with others directly on the map. It could really enhance collaboration and make Windy even more interactive for both professionals and casual users.

                  A simple drawing option could help people mark things directly on live data for quick notes, training, or sharing observations with others. Since Windy’s user base has grown a lot since 2019, I think more people would actually use it this time.

                      Hey @David-Polášek. I just saw this now. By annotation tool, I mean something simple like being able to draw or write directly on the map — for example, circling a storm area, adding arrows to show movement, etc. It could be just temporary or saved as a screenshot. But I understand if it is hard to add this tool to Windy.

                      This actually could be useful for professionals and weather enthusiasts, circling gale force winds, drawing things that people find interesting in the map and sharing it through the community, etc. etc. Or it can be for personal use for people who use Windy.com. In other words, I think this could be a solid idea.

                        Exactly mine use!

                        I know this was 5 days ago, but thought I would explain my use case for it. Quite commonly I am showing family/friends weather stuff and circling with a mouse doesn't really help me explain it but for example - if I could highlight an area and then switch to a different layer and then explain it - most people do not have a photographic memory to remember all that data and then try and project it again in their heads on the new data layer

                          @WeatherMan10

                          I am doing this often to. Sometimes when I tell my family members, I want to draw and show them what is something interesting that could possibly happen. It helps me with learning because i show my knowledge and the annotation is a way to show what I am talking about. I am saying this because I have a whiteboard that has a drawing feature.
