Wind Forecast for an Area

Hi there, I'd like to setup an automation to notifiy me if windspeeds are due to exceed a certain level, in the forecast across the UK. I can see its possible to set alerts for a specific point, can this be done for an area? I've only just setup the alerts, but i have set the desired wind speed, then set the hours and duration to notify me days 1-7 of the forecast, so I assume here that if the wind speed is forecast to exceed my limit, i'll receive an alert UP TO 7 days in advance, if the forecast changes then i'll get the alert some time during the 1-7 day window.
