Maps but No Actual Weather displays on Firefox
-
Windy was working for months/years on this PC. After the last Microsoft update and rebooting, Windy Premium no longer displays any actual data on Firefox browser. It will show maps, and it will show iso lines, but no actual data such as radar, wind, temperatures, rain forecast/accumulated, etc. I tried in normal window, disabling privacy add-ins, and in private window. No change in behavior observed between the two types of browser windows
System: FF 143.0.3/64bit, W11pro latest update
Is anyone else seeing this problem?

Hey @fbourdelier
could help us fix that? These are the steps.
- Check the weather radar or satellite layer. These layers are using a different renderer. We would like to know if the problem persists on those layers as well.
- In Firefox, go to developer tools (click F12), and reload Windy on the problematic layers.
- Make a screenshot and upload it here.
I'm adding my colleague @schilpat to the conversation as well.
Many thanks!

Hi I'm having exact same problem that just recently started on windows 11pro pc (v24H2 build 26100.3775) and Firefox (128.8.0esr 64-bit) and this config has been in place and stable for few months now. Since nothing has changed in my pc config, seems to be a change on the windy side in early Oct that has broken windy in firefox. On same pc, windy works OK in chrome browser so issue is new windy in fairly recent firefox. Would be nice to have windy work in firefox like it used to. Thanks

Yes, I am having the exact same problem with windy on firefox. Only started for me yesterday. Had been working for several years just fine before. Please help!

Same issue here. I uploaded a video to youtube so you can see it in action. Let me know if I can help troubleshoot this.

@Caldwellone Hello, could you please test this behavior in our new Beta version with the new visualization technology? More info and link here.
-
@Suty Sure.. Tried it out and that one is much worse...
-
@Caldwellone Hello, it seems that your browser doesn't work well with WebGL technology, we use in our maps. Could you please check these links to see if WebGL 1&2 work for you (Source one and two.)
-
@Suty yes, both of those links work fine. I see the spinning cube on both sites. The second one has the number 2 in it. Also, just to add the site works fine in safari and chrome on the same device. Its just Firefox that is having the issue.
-
@Caldwellone Okay, can you please provide all errors in the console of the browser, when the issue occurs? We cannot do much without these.
-
@Suty Ah why didnt I think of that :). (Console output below) After taking a look at the errors.. i decided to plug them into ChatGPT and it told me to turn privacy.resistFingerprinting from true to false. So I did and that actually fix the problem... Being a privacy nut, i likely turned that on at some point to lock down Firefox. I'd rather not reverse it so I will just use Windy with a different browser unless you think there is a different workaround. I shared the console output through a throw away via google docs because it was being blocked as spam here.. but here it is... https://docs.google.com/document/d/1V6ahdp4OrFf5PEq7T9vWYd3suMkeKo-uJJ8RwAvuE_A/edit?usp=sharing Thanks for all your help..
