At my location 0.1 mm could mean a long period of light condensation (non-flyable) or a very short localised shower (high clouds warning), but if there is a decent chance of rain, your brain's danger control light should be blinking twice as fast. Therefore, a 3-hour forecast provides textile pilots more decisive information than a 1-hour forecast, which is premium and should be more detailed.

You are right, sailors don’t worry about rain.
But I’m sure the 1h-step forecast is important for you. Just looking at 3h-step forecast and getting 0.2mm, you don’t know if it will rain in the 1st, the 2nd or the 3rd hour. The 1h-step forecast will show may be 0.1mm in the 3rd hour, the other 0.1mm being split in the 1rst hour and the 2nd hour.
0.1mm is about nothing. As a paraglider do you fear 0.1mm of rain over 1 hour ?

As a sailor, you don't care, but as a paraglider, I would go up the hill at 10, then swear and wonder why I'm paying extra for a 1-hour forecast that's no more accurate.
