        @jglfo
        In addition to special hurricane models, the NHC integrate airborne recon observation and Dvorak technique based on satellite views to estimate precisely the max sustained winds (over 1-minute) which are higher than the averaged winds as used in normal weather advisories and provided by standard weather models.
        In Windy the models forecasting wind (over 10-minutes) are not able to provide the high speed winds near the eyewall.
        This is the reason why Windy displays the Hurricane tracker using the NHC data, and those from the ECMWF tracker. Have you tried this tracker ?

          Can you elaborate on how ECMWF data complements NHC data in Windy's tracker?

            In the same way that Windy offers different weather forecast models.
            The forecast track displayed by the ECMWF is sometimes better than that of the NHC, and in all cases, it is longer.
            But you can notice that the wind and the hurricane category displayed on the ECMWF track are the same as the ones of the NHC. For the reasons explained in my previous post.
