Here's another attempt, the team should think about it.
Take a search "disable weather picker" in the forum and see that many people are unhappy about
the current situation in the android app.

Here are the first hits, and there were certainly more in the forum.

I, and possibly others (those also posting about this topic in the forum), didn't need it for years. And we still don't need it because it disrupts our usual workflow. Not every single feature that's introduced is needed or used by every user. It's simply incomprehensible that changes are constantly being made that many users don't want. It's just like Microsoft's OS and Office. Most features aren't optional but are forced upon the user. And the user should know better than anyone whether they want or need a new function. So please don't be like Microsoft and let the user decide. And "optional" (in this case adding to the options "allways off") is the best solution for both sides: for users who prefer simplicity, for power users and for you who have more happy users. (like, for example, your unfortunate removal of the radar animation speed option from the web GUI).

In 2023 I explained in much detail, how I think that the then "new" location picker (or "weather picker") was one of the worst design decisions ever for windy, here the corresponding thread: https://community.windy.com/topic/27520/totally-disappointed-by-recent-update-picker-layer-list

Even today at the end of 2025 I have not adapted at all to the "location picker" concept, that was introduced in 2023. It simply is a very bad way of interacting with the map. Every time I open Windy I'm "disgusted" by having to interact this way with the map.

My suggestions:

Disable auto-zooming and auto-moving the map when selecting "forecast for this location"
Allow the user to tap on the map to set location (instead of having to move the map). Tapping where I want to see the weather is the most intuitive way of map interaction.
