      Hi everyone,

I’m using the Windy app daily here in South Africa(IN

      Here’s

ECMW often show completely different wind speeds during strong southeaster days.

The Windy app radar layer sometimes shows developing rain cells, but the actual rainfall arrives later than predicted.

Wind gusts forecasted on the app don’t always match what I measure locally — especially near the coastline.

On certain days, the mobile app notifications for wind alerts have triggered, but the actual wind peak happens an hour or two off the forecast timing.

I’m curious if this is normal for our region or if there’s something unique about South African weather patterns that causes these variations.

      Questions for the community:

Which forecast model do you find most reliable in South Africa when using the Windy app?

Does anyone here rely on sounding, meteograms, or weather stations inside the app for better accuracy?

Are there known limitations for Windy’s models in the southern hemisphere or along coastal regions like Cape Town or Durban?

I Would really appreciate hearing how others in South Africa use the app for more accurate day-to-day forecasting.

      Thanks!
