Why does this app show the winds around 50 or 60 mph

Hello,
I noticed during Ian that whenever I check wind models or apps, the wind speeds are about one-third of what the NHC reports. Why is that?

Hi,
See in this post why there is some discrepancy between NHC and standard weather models when forecasting strong winds near the eye of a hurricane.
During a hurricane check the Hurricane tracker in Windy to get the max wind speeds forecasts.
