Wind elevation and clouds

In previous versions I could set wind elevation and then switch to clouds and the wind animation would stay at the same elevation it was set to previously. Now, any time clouds are selected, wind animation reverts to surface winds. I preferred the old way to do it- I liked seeing how the jet stream influences cloud cover. Could it be changed back?
