New Snow Icons "*" on Radar Map
-
the new "`*" snow icons to distinguish from rain on the radar map isn't to my liking (sorry).
I don't understand why you don`t apply color coding to precipitation just like you do on the Precipitation Type map. Blue for rain, white for snow, something else for freezing rain. Many other weather services use this approach.

@TooTall516 Hello and thank you for your feedback. Could you please share any screenshot with an example how the described visual looks?

I also dislike these snow icons. Here is a radar image of Windy vs Accuweather (which I am not a fan, but useful for illustration purposes). I cannot see how the snow icons are better than simple color coding. The extra '*' characters are very distracting and when the radar is in motion it is even worse.

I've really liked Windy premium for years but this is having me looking for alternatives (at a minimum for the entire winter season).

Came on here to post about the radar snow icons as well.
While I appreciate Windy’s efforts to add precipitation types, I find that the snow icons obscure the radar and generally make it difficult to read/use.
As an example, when the radar shows only rain and no snow, the color gradients indicating precipitation intensity are very clear and easy to read. However, when there is snow, the snow icons are overlaid onto the precipitation and I find it more difficult to see the color gradients, how the storm is moving, etc.
As a suggested solution, perhaps Windy could add settings for radar precipitation icons similar to the settings for wind particles animation? Ideally this would allow users to turn icons on/off and adjust icon size, opacity, and density.
In any event, Windy rules and I’m looking forward to future updates!

@TooTall516 yes, they're still there as annoying as they are. Some people don't have perfect vision and I find it SO messed up. I rarely visit the site anymore and can't wait for them to disappear. I can't see anything going on beneath the completely unnecessary addition.

@idefix37
Where is this switch? I can't seem to find it.
I expected it to be in the "More options.." area.

@Gkikas-LGPZ
That's where I thought it would originally go. It took me a minute to find it in settings.But Yeah, in that "pop-up" menu when viewing a radar layer would be much more useful

@Gkikas-LGPZ You are right about this, but we have a problem with space on some devices, so we decided to handle it this way for now.

@Suty
Could maybe drop the words "My" and "Show"?

I donno, that's my idea for the day 🤣
