        If you are referring to the projection shown in the post you mentioned, this "globe" rendering has been available in the browser version for a VERY long time!

        Click on 3D

        I doubt that this kind of projection is as crucial as you say when I see the very, very small proportion of screenshots on this forum with this “3D” compared to those with the Mercator projection.
