Source for the Radar Data
-
Hello,
I would like to request that you consider returning to the Barbadosweather source for the radar data of the Dominican Republic, as you previously had it, because the current one does not look good at all. I have read that you were asked to change the source by using the IDAC website, but it was not a good idea. I hope you will please take my request into consideration.
Can't wait for your response -
Hi @Joely-Sosa, what do you mean by
does not look good at all?
From what I've seen, the composite from IDAC contains data from the new radar site but composite from BarbadosWeather does not.
Which I would consider as a good reason to stick with IDAC composite. -
@Filip_K Helo,
It seems I didn’t express myself clearly, and that’s why you couldn’t understand my point. What I meant is that the Barbadosweather source is more reliable because they use data directly from the center where all the radars of the Dominican Republic are managed. The Santo Domingo radar is not yet visible in the Barbados composition because it is still in the testing phase. Once it is ready, it will become available. On the IDAC page, the data gets blocked from time to time due to technical issues, which is why it’s not advisable for you to use IDAC’s data directly. (The data on Barbadosweather doesn’t fail or get blocked.) I know someone else had asked you to change your source, but that was because he thought the third radar was already operational. I spoke with the person who made that request to you, and he told me that he later realized the situation. Once the third radar is ready, it will be visible on Barbados and also on Windy. -
You're right. It was me who made the request. I would appreciate it if they took into account what you’re saying. In fact, Barbadosweather is already in the phase of installing the third radar in its network. So that source would be better.

Hi @alexitososa and @joely-sosa. I switched the source back to BarbadosWeather, since it now also contains data from new site.
For reference, this is the thread with @alexitososa where we previously discussed the issue.
