Feature idea: accumulated sunshine hours
-
Hey guys,
I really appreciate the app’s functionality, especially for daily forecasts, scheduling for hobbies and travel route planning. The accumulated rainfall layer is particularly useful when choosing where to go based on weather conditions.
One feature that would significantly improve planning—especially in fall and spring—would be an accumulated sunshine layer similar to accumulated rainfall. Currently, it’s easy to see where it will rain over 12, 24, or 48 hours... but it’s much harder to identify areas with consistent sunshine when there is cloud cover without precipitation.
A layer showing:
- Accumulated sunshine hours over selectable time ranges (e.g., 12h / 24h / 48h),
OR - Accumulated solar radiation as a proxy for sunshine,
OR - accumulated cloud coverage as the reverse approach, if easier to code due to source data
would make it much easier to plan (spontaneous) travel routes toward better weather conditions.
Because let's be honest, we all like dry weather, but we even more like sunshine ;)This would be particularly valuable for travelers, outdoor activities, and solar-dependent users, especially if you're not sure in which are to go, and don't want to manually look up several locations weather forecast, but see it directly for the whole map over a set time frame in the future.
Thanks for considering this suggestion.
Best regards,
