      Re: Wind higher than 80MPH?
I just checked it and around the eye of Irma it is only registering 51 knots. NHC and other sites report 180 mph sustained with 220 mph gusts. That is a huge discrepancy

1 Knot = 1 Nautical Mile per hour
1 Nautical mile = 6076.12 ft. so it's moving 58 miles per hour that doesn't sound right.

Why isn't the news reporting this information

@nicolefair same issue. You can change the settings to show mph but that doesn't seem to change the discrepancy from what the news is reporting. When you point to somewhere on the map there is xx/xx mph. What exactly do those numbers mean? Max/Min? Still doesn't make sense because if you point somewhere a few miles away its drastically different.

@jasonnkloos I was wondering the same thing. The first number is the wind direction in degrees and the second is the wind speed
