Request to restore previous "Forecast for this location" button behavior
-
Hello,
I am a regular Windy.com user and would like to bring to your attention a change in the interface that has significantly complicated the use of the service.
The Issue:
After the recent design update, the logic of the "Forecast for this location" feature has changed in relation to the "Find my location" button.
How it worked before:Click "Find my location"
Activate "Forecast for this location" once
On subsequent clicks of "Find my location", the forecast function remained active automaticallyHow it works now:
Click "Find my location"
Activate "Forecast for this location"
On the next click of "Find my location", you must manually activate "Forecast for this location" againWhy this creates inconvenience:
I use Windy for regular weather monitoring at my current location by GPS sensor (working at sea / yachting / other activities requiring frequent checks like checked updrafts for paragliding ). I need to update my location and check the forecast every 10-60 minutes.
Now, instead of one action (clicking "Find location"), I need to perform two actions every timePlease restore the previous behavior where the "Forecast for this location" function was remembered and remained active when repeatedly updating location. Or add a setting "Automatically show forecast when updating location".
This would significantly improve the user experience for those who regularly track weather at their current location.
Thank you for your excellent service and attention to user feedback! -
@maksim65 Hello, I will check the previous version and discuss this with colleagues on our next meeting.

@Suty The same issue occurs when planning a route in the old version: I loaded the route, tapped “Find My Location,” and then edited the route based on my current location. Now, when I tap the “My Location” button, the route disappears. I have to redraw the route until the location is displayed. Why fix something that worked perfectly before?

@maksim65 There was a certain refactor done on our end, unfortunately, with these changes. I will forward this to our team for a consideration of putting this back. Thank you for your report.

@maksim65 May I ask which device you use to access Windy?
