Tide Datum
-
Does anyone know what is the Datum (e.g. LAT or MLLW) from which tide highs are reported in Windy.com, please?

@Karel-Fišer
Windy use the data from WorldTides.info
I have not checked but I’m quite sure it is based on LAT datum (lowest astronomical tides) -

Thanks for quick reply.
From https://www.worldtides.info/datums I understand, that the datum can differ based on are and it recommended to "set" the datum to Chart Datum.
Also while in Europe most marine maps would have that equal to LAT, in NOAA (mainly US coasts) maps it would be different.
Is it possible, that Windy.com devel choose some particular datum?

@Karel-Fišer
Only the developers can specify this detail. -
@idefix37 thank you, I will ask in that section then.

Hello, is there any chance to get an update from developers on this, please?

@Karel-Fišer
I think you can check it yourself.
You can see in Windy that the Tide forecast is also available as POIs in some countries, in USA particularly.
The data of these POIs are not provided by WorldTides but by local tide tables based on tide gauges.
So you can compared these 2 types of data in USA by clicking on the POIs or out of them. The tide heights are quite similar.Local tide data (in Tide forecast POIs)

WorldTides data (out of Tide forecast POIs)

Another reason showing that on the US coasts the datum used in Windy for “WorldTides data” is not the LAT datum: it shows negative low tide heights, which is never the case with the LAT datum, as we use in Europe for example.
Note on my screenshots that I haven’t converted the height into imperial units, nor the time in 12h format.
