Professional API key request — SafetyIQ (ham radio station safety, non-commercial, open-source)
-
Hi everyone,
I would like to apply for a free Professional API key upgrade for a non-commercial open-source project called SafetyIQ.
SafetyIQ is a worldwide ham radio station safety monitoring system. It runs 24/7/365 headless on a Raspberry Pi, monitors real-time weather from over 40 global sources simultaneously, and automatically warns operators when wind speeds are approaching the structural limits of their antenna towers. If the operator is away from home and does not acknowledge the alert within a configurable time window, the system executes safety actions autonomously — lowering towers, routing antennas to a dummy load — protecting the station from storm damage without human intervention.
The Windy map layer is a core part of the operator experience. The dashboard is full-screen map-first, and the animated wind overlay gives operators instant situational awareness of what is approaching their station — exactly the kind of contextual information that makes the difference between a timely response and a destroyed antenna.
The project is not commercial. It will be free, open-source, and distributed to the worldwide ham radio community without charge. The GitHub repository is currently private — I made this choice deliberately during the rapid development phase to avoid publishing incomplete code. When the system reaches a stable public release it will be made public on GitHub and published at ct2iry.com.
I am aware of the policy for non-commercial sites to apply for a Professional upgrade via this forum. I would be happy to share the current codebase privately for review if that helps with the evaluation.
Thank you for considering this.
