Hello Windy Team,
Your app provides incredibly powerful data, but the current layout of the Airgram completely misses the mark for practical outdoor use (paragliding, mountaineering, etc.). In its current form, the tool is highly inefficient because it forces users to constantly do mental math while trying to analyze the weather.
Here are three concrete improvements that would turn this layer from "frustrating" to "brilliant":- 1. Real altitude in meters instead of rigid air pressure (hPa):
The vertical axis on the left only shows hPa values (1000, 850, 700 \dots). For anyone operating from the ground up, this is useless in daily practice. We need to see immediately at what actual altitude in meters (m) the temperature drops, where the freezing level sits, or where the cloud base is located. Please add an option to toggle this axis to meters (or feet). - 2. Wind speed directly in km/h instead of wind barbs:
Meteorological wind barbs (in knots) are a relic of traditional aviation. When I need to check how hard the wind is blowing at a certain altitude, I don't want to count tiny lines and multiply them by two in my head. We need an option to display the wind speed in this vertical profile directly as a number in km/h (or at least scale the barbs to km/h steps). - 3. Clear, visual cloud layers (cloud cover):
The way cloud cover, humidity, and clear visibility from the ground up are displayed gets completely lost in the colorful temperature gradients. It would be incredibly helpful if actual cloud layers, fog, or the cloud base were rendered as distinct, visual layers (e.g., grey/white structures) directly inside the altitude scale, making it instantly clear at which height you'll hit overcast conditions.
Conclusion: All the data is right there, but the user interface forces unnecessary guesswork. Please give us the option in the settings to switch the Airgram from the rigid "commercial pilot mode" to the actual units we use out in the field (m and km/h).
