Improve “current hour” display / reduce 1-hour jump in timeline
-
I’ve noticed a small but quite important usability issue when looking at “current conditions” vs model time steps.
Problem
When viewing models for USA cities like - https://www.windy.com/multimodel/33.640/-84.810?33.640,-84.810,8
For example, at 16:00 local time, the interface may immediately show 17:00 as the active forecast step instead of reflecting a clearer “current hour” view or interpolated current conditions.
This makes it harder to quickly understand:
what conditions are happening right now
whether we are before or after a temperature peak
how current observations relate to model output
Why it mattersFor users doing short-term forecasting (aviation, weather trading, outdoor planning, etc.), the difference between:
“now (16:00)”
and “next model step (17:00)”can be confusing, especially when the UI jumps forward rather than anchoring to the current hour.
Suggestion
It would be very helpful to have an option such as:
“Lock timeline to current hour”
or “Show interpolated current conditions between model steps”Even a simple UI indicator like “NOW (16:00)” separate from model steps would improve clarity a lot.

@ucelme
I'm not sure Windy is willing to make interpolations between 3-hour time steps, given that the Premium version offers 1-hour time steps from the weather model.

@ucelme
I see that you are Premium user now.
So you should toggle the 1h-switch.
