Better local radar and rain alert accuracy for South Asia
-
Hello Windy team,
First of all, thank you for creating such a useful weather platform. I use Windy regularly to check wind, rain, clouds, temperature, and forecast models. The visual map is very helpful, especially when planning travel, outdoor work, or checking changing weather conditions.
I wanted to share one issue and suggestion. In some areas of South Asia, especially Pakistan and nearby regions, the rain radar and short-term rain tracking can sometimes feel less detailed compared to other regions. For users who depend on Windy for daily weather planning, this makes it harder to judge whether rain is actually approaching their city or passing nearby.
It would be very helpful if Windy could improve radar coverage, add more local data sources where possible, or provide clearer information when radar data is limited in a specific region.
A few useful improvements could be:
- Better local radar coverage for Pakistan and South Asia
- Clear notice when radar data is unavailable or limited
- More accurate short-term rain alerts for selected locations
- Option to compare radar with satellite and forecast model data more easily
- Better city-level rain tracking for users outside Europe and North America
I understand that radar data depends on local providers, but even a small improvement in coverage or transparency would help many users.
Thanks again for the great work. I hope this feedback can be useful for future updates.
