Incorrect Placename Fix?
-
If there's a way to correct incorrect place names, I can't find it. Windy wildly overshoots what "Rancho Cordova" California is for some reason. I am in what is considered "Arden-Arcade" which is at least two place names distant from Rancho Cordova. It does that with browser location and also now that I have stood up a weather station at 38.618, -121.361. It should be Arden-Arcade or Sacramento County. Even Carmichael would be a reasonable approximation of a location. Rancho Cordova is daft. Is there a way to fix this or explain how the place name localization logic works? Thanks.

@brandonabell Hello, can you provide about which location do you talk exactly? Can you share the screenshot and suggestion?

@Suty Sure. Thanks for the reply.
I think it might be an issue with the "snap-to" logic when the site is fed a GPS coordinate. Windy seems to be snapping to the nearest incorporated place-name (Rancho Cordova), which I'm sure is the right move most of the time globally. But in this case it is the wrong move. I am in an unincorporated area of Sacramento County. "Arden-Arcade" is the correct Census Designated Place. "Sacramento" is the correct generalization (for mail or general reference). Rancho Cordova as a name is far enough wrong that it made me think there was a bug in the app or my GPS fix was wrong. It would definitely lead to misdirected mail if that was used in the address.
I would suggest that you consider using the Census Designated Place name for the locations or at least offer it as an option. Even using the county name would be a better fallback option than a blind snap to the closest city. I know you have Arden-Arcade in your database because you can search for it and set it as a favorite. It's just not picking it like it should when you do a GPS fix. I don't think that's the behavior you intend.
Thanks!
edit: also, entertainingly, Arden-Arcade has quite a bit higher population than Rancho Cordova. . . ;-)
