Radar sources for Thailand
-
Hi Windy Team,
It looks like the weather radar coverage for the eastern part of Thailand has been greyed out/missing for some time now.
This issue seems to be caused by the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) updating their source radar URLs. For reference, the active and updated radar links for the Rayong station can be found here:
https://weather.tmd.go.th/ryg240.php

Could you please look into updating the radar feed sources for Thailand when you get a chance?
Thank you!

Over the past week or so the weather radar over Thailand has new gaps in reporting in areas Southwest, Southeast , and East of Bangkok, most of Phuket and other areas.
It’s as though the reporting radar diameters have been reduced. Is there a problem with the radar feeds from the source? Will this be resolved in the near future?
It’s rainy season here and it’s difficult to plan travel with thr gaps in the radar.
Thank you.

thanks in advance :)

Hello,
we had in the past that the weather radar near Rayong disappeard. Now (since a couple of weeks) also other radars disappeared. Including suvarnabhumi Airport.

Anyting posssible to reactivate these conenctions?

I've noticed this too from my end. Several radar loops in the central and eastern regions of Thailand haven't been updating for a couple of weeks. Hope the dev team can look into the data source connection.

I just noticed that Sattahip (which I thought was gone long time ago) appears to be back online https://file.royalrain.go.th/opendata/radar_data/cappi/?station=sattahip
But I also notice that the website royalrain.go.th asnwers sometiems extremely slowly and sometimes not at all. Maybe a related problemm...

I would liek to pop this up again. I think that part of the issue could be solved by reintegrating Sattahip again. This is Sattahip

And this is Windy

-
@corsita Hello, our colleagues are aware of this issue and they will start to work on this in upcoming days.
-
Just following up on this—do you happen to have any updates or a rough ETA on when the updated TMD radar feeds might be integrated?
Thanks again to the team for looking into it!

Hello @Suty
The missing radar data over sections of Thailand (and in extension over Myanmar and Cambodia) is still unresolved.
It's been missing for about a month now and I would appreciate any concrete updates that you can provide.
When similar issues arose in the past, Windy claimed the problem started from issues with local satellite providers — were you able to use the info provided by @corsita ? Do you have any idea when the radar on Windy will be fully functional again?

@pph398 Yes, our colleagues already have all available source, but there is other higher priority stuff. Thank you for your patience.
-
@Suty looks like you are working on it. If not and for information: one more is gone. Now also Bangkok is in the dark

Hello David,
unfortunately it looks like the radar in Sattahip has not been integrated. This used to cover the southern east part of Trat Province, Trat city, Koh Chang, Koh Mak and Koh Kood.

What has been added is the radar from Suvanabhumi Airport
-
@corsita Hello, our colleagues still work on new radar in Thailand. Some radars were much easier to add them, so they are already available. Other ones still take some time, so this should be a reason for this.
