      Hi Windy team,

I'm reporting an issue with the Windy Wear OS app on my Google Pixel Watch 2. The app worked flawlessly for years, but for the past several months — possibly starting around an app or Wear OS update — two problems have appeared:

      1. Crown scrolling: The app responds very slowly to the rotating crown, or not at all. Scrolling works normally in all other apps and system menus, so this appears specific to Windy.

      2. Forecasts fail to load on the watch. The Windy app on my paired phone continues to work without any issues.

      Troubleshooting already performed:

      • Uninstalled and reinstalled the app on the watch (multiple times)
      • Restarted the watch
      • Left the app uninstalled for roughly two months, then reinstalled after newer app and OS updates were available — no improvement
      • Verified location permissions and network connectivity

      Environment:

      • Watch: Google Pixel Watch 2, fully up to date (OS and security patches)
      • Phone: Google Pixel 8 Pro, fully up to date
      • All apps on both devices are current, so outdated software is not a factor

I'm happy to provide the exact Windy app version, Wear OS build number, or logs if that helps. Please let me know if there's a known issue or a fix in the works.

      Thank you

@javinpress Hi. Thanks for the detailed report. I will take a look. While waiting for the new release please follow these troubleshooting steps regarding the forecast load issue:

        1. Reinstall the wear OS app - make sure the device has access to the network and GPS is turned on
        2. Launch the phone app
        3. Launch the wear OS app, grant location permission
        4. Optional but recommended - open Google Maps app on wear OS and load your current location
        5. Relaunch the wear OS app
        6. Click on forecast in the menu
If the forecast does not load for your location, please go to the Settings menu and scroll all the way down and click on Open on phone button. Check if the phone app was reopened.

Also is the forecast failing for custom locations? You can set them up in Settings -> Locations.

        Thank you for your patience.

            @MarkNagy

Thanks for the quick response. I followed each step exactly as listed — reinstalled the Wear OS app with network access and GPS on, launched the phone app first, granted location permission on the watch app, and relaunched it. Results:

            - Forecast still does not load for my current location.
            - Google Maps on the watch loads my current location successfully, so GPS/location services are working.
            - I can manually add a custom location in Settings -> Locations on the watch app, and the city name appears, but the forecast never populates under it — so it's failing for both current and custom locations.
            - The "Open on phone" button in Settings does nothing; the phone app does not reopen.

While it looks like the Windy watch app isn't communicating with the phone, I can confirm that the watches other apps are communicating with the phone just fine.

All other panels in the Windy app e.g. Meteostations, Metars, Satellite, Radar, and Wind Forecast screens load fine and determine my location, albeit that scrolling with the crown doesn't work right as my report indicates.

Please let me know if I should be sending an email directly to support, if that's more appropriate.

            Thanks for looking into this,

@javinpress Hey! Thanks for the detailed retest. The fact that everything else load is weird. The last thing I need is the version of the app on your wear device. I will investigate the issue based on the provided information. Thank you.

@javinpress One more thing - can you try to change the forecast model?

@MarkNagy That was a great suggestion! After changing the forecast model, it loaded right up. That must have unstuck something that's been stuck for many months.

That just leaves the crown wheel scrolling problem to solve.

                  Thanks!

@javinpress Thanks for the confirmation. It was an unrecognised model issue. I am working on the fix for the rotary scroll. It will be tested next week and hopefully released after the test.

@MarkNagy Hi, the 51.0.1 app has much improved crown scrolling on my watch.

Here's how it's working for me now.

                          • Main menu / settings / meteostations / metars / scrolling: perfect
                          • Forecast scrolling: working well, but noticeably slower, perhaps 1/2 speed calibration
                          • Radar and Satellite scrolling: still not working properly, lots of scrolling only slowly moves the zoom levels, occasionally even in the opposite direction

Thanks so much for your assistance!

@javinpress Hi. Thanks for the feedback, I will review the forecast and radar situation. Regarding zooming in Radar and Satellite now supports scroll by pinch or double tap. Also we added drag to move on map feature.

                            Thank you!
