PM2.5 is inaccurate

The AQI monitors in my area are all showing 100+ numbers, yet the PM2.5 windy map is only showing 10. It’s as if the windy data is far behind current, publicly available data sources (I used airnow.gov).

Why is the PM2.5 map so different? I understand that I can get the station data, but I don’t understand why the PM2.5 map is different from the station data.
During the recent wildfires, like I showed above, that station data was way different than the PM2.5 map. Even now, with clearer skies, the PM2.5 map is predicting 4, when the stations are reporting 28. That’s an order of magnitude difference.

Clicking on About these data you will see that the PM2.5 map is ‘near the surface’, but not at ground level like the air quality stations, and with a low resolution.
