Wind discrepancies between single model and Wind comparison
-
@Suty Please fasttrack this. To be clear: This is no small "flaw" but a major bug.
I'm on a sailing trip at the moment. These inconsistencies make Windy unusable at the moment.
So, please re-prioritize and fix this as soon as possible.
-
@Ftjwinfs Yes, I am aware of this but we are still looking for the cause of this whole trouble on our end.
Right now, we have a new version with smaller features and bug fixes in the testing process, so we will do our best to fix this into this new version.
-
@Suty It "seems" (I'm not sure), that the issue appears somehow in the later hours of the day (European time / Berlin time). The last screenshots I made in the late evening.
Right now (10:40 Berlin time), map, arrows and tabulated wind data seem to be in sync (see screenshots below). Maybe this supports debugging.

I'm sorry for again for being so blunt: But right now, instead of showing popup messages of all the nice new features in the app you should show a popup, that says that currently due to still unknown circumstances sadly the forecast that Windy provides is simply wrong.
Or how would the Windy team describe the catastrophic discrepancies documented above?
This needs to be fixed right now or you need to inform your customers in a official way of the current deficiencies.
-
So, what do I have to expect tomorrow at 4pm? Some moderate 13-17kn (tabulated data) or brisk 21-27kn (map)?
Fix this. Please.

-
@Ftjwinfs Hello, we probably found the cause and it should be fixed in the release planned for today.
-
@Suty That would be great, thank you.
-
@Ftjwinfs Could you please test it in the latest version, you should have an access to v.51.1.0 now.
-
@Suty Right now, it seems fine: The map, the wind arrows and the tabulated data appear consistent. Thanks you a lot.
I will also check late in the evening, that's when during the last days I saw the huge inconsistencies.
-
@Suty Unfortunately still not right: Compare tabulated data, wind-arrows ad map in the screenshot (made just now, windy v51.1.0).

-
@Ftjwinfs Oh okay, it seems that there is a problem with data in locations with shifted time zone to the next day. Can you please provide more info about what location you checked, but also the location from where you checked this data?
-
@Suty Right now it looks ok again. So it varies over the day from inconsistent to consistent.
I'm on the Aland Islands and check data for the Aland Islands as well as Sweden in the Stockholm area.
The local time-zone is UTC+3 (Mariehamn). Since I'm only a few days here, my local system on the laptop still is in UTC+2.
-
@Suty What is the status here?
-
@Suty I'm now back in a UTC+2 zone. Issue persists, see screenshot.
What's right? What's wrong? No one knows.
Unusable.

@Ftjwinfs Hello, we will release one more hotfix today, so it will be hopefully solved there. We did many tests, but this one is a bit difficult to handle locally, since the issue is not in every timezone.
-
@Ftjwinfs Hello again, can you please test this behavior on your end once again?
-
@Suty Right now, it looks ok (v51.1.1). I will check again late in the evening.
-
@Suty Seems to be ok.
-
@Ftjwinfs Thank you so much for the confirmation.
