Sudden large jump in webcam view counts – change or bug?

Hi Windy team,

Over the past few days I've noticed that the total (accumulated) view count on my published webcam jumped suddenly from around 20,000 to around 247,000 – roughly a 12x increase in a very short time.

This doesn't look like organic traffic to me, because:

The jump was sudden rather than gradual.
Checking other webcams on Windy, several of them seem to show a similar sharp increase around the same time.

That pattern suggests something changed on Windy's side rather than a real spike in visitors. My questions:

Did you recently change how views are counted (e.g. now including map preview impressions, app/web loads, or API views in the accumulated total)?
Was there a data migration or recalculation that pulled in historical views that weren't previously counted?
Or is this a counter bug from a recent update?

Any clarification would be appreciated so I know whether these new numbers are the "real" ongoing figures or a one-off adjustment.

thank you for reporting this. These numbers you've been seeing really are exaggerated and incorrect. We plan to fix this soon.
