@idefix37 That doesn't stick. As soon as I refresh the page, it reverts back to Meteoblue.

@Canne Those settings are not sticky either. When I change the model in those settings in the post and then refresh the page, the setting just reverts back to Meteoblue again.

@mrgalaxy Which platform, browser? Have you tried with another browser? A screen capture just before you hit the refresh button would be helpful.

@idefix37 Yes, I clicked there. I chose a model that is not Meteoblue. Then I refreshed the page and meteoblue is still selected by default. I am using Firefox (not chrome). I'll try logging out and logging back in...... maybe that will make a a difference?

You are right. This needs to be fixed.

@idefix37 ok, I cleared all the windy.com cookies in my browser after logging out and then logging in. Upon initial login, the model I chose is selected. However, when I refresh the page again, the model switches back to Meteoblue.

So yeah, just a silly little bug. Would be nice to fix :)

@mrgalaxy, may I ask you if you have another session on Windy open somewhere, on another computer maybe, with Meteoblue AI selected as default?

If this is the case, please set the default model in both sessions, while they are both open at the same time, then immediately log out from both. Then login back in on Firefox. Refresh (with Shift+refresh or Shift+Ctrl+R) to see if your selection is retained by your user profile:

First, I tested with Firefox 153.0.3 Win11 alone and I could not reproduce the problem as you reported.

But with another computer fired up with a session open on Vivaldi 8.1 (Chrome 150 based) with my Windy account, the refresh on Firefox changed the default model to the one I have on the other computer, on Vivaldi.

Thus I believe that Windy stores these settings in the user profile, but retrieves them in a buggy and arbitrary manner. It would be better to store them in the User's Settings, if they are supposed to be global and not browser-specific (cookies).

If you do confirm my observation, maybe @idefix37 has the rights to move this thread to bug reports category.

@Canne Yes, I have it open on my home computer, my work computer, my cell phone .... multiple computers that I use. Let me go try that....

@canne OK, that didn't work unfortunately. I logged out of my phone, and both my computers. I also deleted windy.com cookies from both computers then logged into only one computer.

When I login the first time, the model I selected is shown (GFS in my case).

But, when I refresh the page again, same problem: Meteoblue switches back on.

                            Any other ideas? :)

@idefix37 @mrgalaxy Thank you. This is definitely a bug without a workaround.

Hello, just to check - in "Settings for location forecast," did you also switch the tiny toggle that's to the left of the "Always open as" setting? It needs to be switched on so that your settings are respected. With the toggle enabled (white background) it works for me.

@selverob Thank you for the suggestion, well seen! My everyday Windy on Vivaldi has this setting on. For this test I launched it also on Firefox: it also has this setting selected. As mentioned, I had some good results, maybe the way you did, but the procedure was unstable for persistence and unpredictable for success with only these two browsers on the same PC.
Edit: I tried again and with setting ex. GFS on Firefox, then logging out on both browsers and then logging back in on both, the setting was changed to GFS on both. But this reminds me that I have another session open on my navigation computer and on a tablet, both of which I cannot access now. Perhaps they are the culprit for changing this setting back to the default value, Meteoblue?
I still think that this type of setting should not be in this dialog, but in the user's profile settings, for clarity and for clear authority. Unless you decide to keep it applicable only for a browser or for a device on which the setting is changed, then it makes sense.
