Windy API Availability of ECMWF Data ?

Hello - the ECMWF was on a multi-year staged journey to move toward a more open licensing model - which they completed on October 1, 2025. Now their entire Real-time Catalogue has CC-BY-4.0 licensing (attribution required) - including for commercial purposes. With this development, can Windy now loosen Windy API license terms and restrictions on ECMWF data?

@Suty I did not have this issue before. The 1-hour wind gust forecast on the map used to work normally, but recently the values seem to be displayed differently or incorrectly.

@fastseas Right now, we are not planning to change conditions of ECMWF in our API service.

@Suty Following up on my prior reply - I just want to make sure I fully understand. the API currently exposes ECMWF data (per https://api.windy.com/map-forecast/pricing) but comes with the restriction that it is "for internal use only" - which I interpret means it can be used for internal facing "corporate" apps, but not for web-facing "public" / "reseller" / "service bureau" situations like mine. I want to be sure that you mean that Windy intends to continue to enforce those terms despite the public copyright granted by ECMWF to this data?

@fastseas Yes, this is the correct understanding. According to terms of use we also received from ECMWF, it is not allowed to provide their data to commercial projects.
