Synoptic Chart mode

Hi Windy Team,
I’d like to suggest adding a Synoptic Chart mode to Windy, combining the existing wind visualization with isobars, H/L pressure centers, and standard warm, cold and occluded fronts.
This would make the overall weather situation much faster and more intuitive to read, especially for sailors.
It could be a simple optional overlay alongside the existing layers.
Is this something you are considering implementing in the future?

Hi,
Windy does not show weather fronts because weather models don’t provide them.
Otherwise, you can be sure that Windy would have added frontal boundaries a long time ago ! -
I’m aware that weather models don’t provide frontal boundaries as a direct output — that wasn’t really my point.
Currently, with Windy, you need to compare several layers to infer the presence and arrival of a front, which is generally easier with cold fronts than with warm, stationary or occluded ones.
Other weather apps already provide synoptic visualizations with frontal boundaries, regardless of whether these are derived, analysed or sourced separately from the forecast model.
That’s exactly what I was suggesting: whether Windy could implement a similar optional visualization to make frontal interpretation more immediate, without having to cross-check multiple layers.

Since you know that weather models don't provide data on fronts, perhaps you know where Windy might get the data to plot them? Personally, I don't think global data is available.
The apps you mention likely generate their maps based on charts from a national weather service for a single country. I’ve seen this in the US. -
@idefix37 Yes, that’s exactly the point I was referring to.
For example, The Weather Company provides global surface forecasts including fronts, and apps such as Windy.app already offer frontal visualization.
In any case, I’m based in Europe and my main interest is the Atlantic coast, the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean, so even a regional implementation covering these areas would already be very useful.
My suggestion was simply to have this information available inside Windy itself, without having to switch between different apps — especially because Windy is the weather app I prefer and use the most.
That’s why I thought a similar optional synoptic/fronts layer could be a valuable addition.
