      I posted a while back about wrong profile where I live. I think the answer though I m not sure at all how to read was go to radar because forecast images unreliable. so is the radar where I live because it can say full on rain while the sun is blasting where I am. It scares me because weather is changing so fast and we on the coast need to know what s happening.

        @csedne

        because forecast images unreliable

        If you read my post carefully, you will see that I never said that: I was talking about stormy conditions, which are difficult for weather models to predict accurately.

        so is the radar where I live because it can say full on rain while the sun is blasting where I am

        I doubt Canadian radars are that bad!

        Have you tried other weather models—like the HRDPS—instead of Windy's default model, the ECMWF?
        The HRDPS, a high-resolution (2.5 km) Canadian model, should provide better forecasts for thunderstorms.

        @wheats Any comments ?

          @idefix37 @csedne
          Wish I had better insight. Any coast is troublesome to forecast for, and with the highlands and interesting terrain it makes it even more difficult to calculate what the atmosphere is up to.
          Your best bet is radar for current conditions and a high resolution model for forecast, like HRDPS or HRRR.

          @csedne are you saying radar shows you significant returns indicating precipitation over you and yet it's sunny? If so, I'd email ECCC and ask for an explanation.
