Feature Request: Aggregated Temperature Layers (Min/Max/Mean over 12h, 24h, 48h)
-
Hi Windy Team,
The Problem
Identifying thermal extremes (like overnight frost risk or peak daytime heat) currently requires manually scrubbing through the timeline slider and calculating local time offset shifts for different regions. The Proposal
Add aggregated map layers for temperature metrics over rolling timeframes:
Metrics: Max, Min, Mean, Standard Deviation (Std Dev)
Time Windows: 12h, 24h, 48hWhy this adds value
Instant thermal overview: Highlight hot spots and cold pockets on a single static map without dragging the timeline.
No timezone math: Effortlessly compare regions in different time zones at their respective local peaks/troughs.Deeper analysis: Standard deviation and mean values quickly pinpoint unusual temperature swings or stable air masses.
Would love to see this integrated into the layer options. What do you think, community? -
@SpQr54 Hello and thank you for your suggestion, right now there is no plan for this. However, if more user will be interested we can consider adding the new layer.
