Missing weather radar of Faroe Islands
-
Dear Windy Team,
A long time we saw a weather / rain radar which covered most parts of the Faroe Islands.
But I would just now check it and t is not available anymore. Is there a reason?
Will you implement again?Would be very fine, now the Faroe Islands are nearly the only part of Europe which is not covered by a radar.

The faroe radar website https://contrive.klaksvik.com/index.html seems to be stuck with July data so it might be the data source and not Windy's site that is not showing it. My understanding is that windy is just a website that shows radar data but it is up to national met offices to have the radars to collect the data.
It is also a pity the UK met office doesn't want to provide a radar service for the entire United Kingdom (Shetland) but have plenty of radar coverage for part of France and Benelux.

I have read at the weather office of the Faroe Islands (vedur.fo) that the radar on the mountain Sornfelli is still due to maintenance and it will be back at work end of September 2026.

Indeed, radar is under maintenance. Should be operational since end of September.
