About a week ago the tide on the north coast of scotland started giving the wrong predicition, its been wrong ever since. Just a heads up.
-
Its off by a few hours so its must be set wrong it wrong. Before that it has been really good for a few years.
Such a great app. Ive used it all over the world and look at it every day pretty much.

@lllnicklll-0 Hello, we would need more and specific info about the issue. Can you provide any screenshots?
-
See attached.
Low tide Sunday 11th at 7pm according to windy. -
Cant find the way to attach screen shot...
But if u check the tide on the north coast of scotland youll See its not showing the correct tide, been like that for a couple months now -
To attach a screenshot

What tide forecast in Windy are you referring to?
The “Tide forecast” in to POI?
Or the “Waves&tide” detailed forecast table? -
-
Thanks
Also wrong here, maybe using same source: https://www.tideschart.com/United-Kingdom/Scotland/Orkney-Islands/Strathy-Bay-Beach/
Here is more like it :
https://weather.metoffice.gov.uk/forecast/gfmjhvye3#?date=2026-10-11Im can confirm this tide from being in water today though bottom of tide and ive been seeing this problem consistently for 2 month or so.

Check this out- go to this point on map, off crosskirk, just west of thurso, the tide to west of here is 3 hours different to the tide east of here... se the location on attached screen shot

The tide in thurso is correct, east of crosskirk is wrong.
-
This next screen grab is the correct time slightly to the east of crosskirk area:

@lllnicklll-0
So you mean that this chart is right ?
And this one is wrong ?

The tide data used by Windy in this Waves&tide table is from https://www.worldtides.info/.
It is a global source which is not very accurate in some areas: enclose bays, estuaries, straits, rivers… -
@idefix37 ok its been bang on for years.
its not a river or estuary though ts the whole of the north coast of scotland, the only bit thats correct is the far east side..
Check it out on your windy by looking at the area west of thurso (crosskirk spesifically) its all off by 3 hours.
-
@idefix37 I checked world tides and the tide prediction for the area is correct yet windy is showing the wrong tide.
-
@lllnicklll-0
I’ll check it. But I’m not in the Windy staff, just a Windy user. -
