Incorrect device type recognition (Windows-Android) caused by resolution settings.
-
On my PC (Lenovo ThinkPad, Windows 11 Pro), the version of Windy designed for Android phones is displayed.
This is caused by the resolution/zoom and font size settings configured at the Windows system level.
Beyond certain zoom or size levels, Windy mistakenly assumes the device is an Android phone rather than a PC.
Unfortunately, because the laptop screen is small, I need to keep the font/zoom settings slightly higher for visual comfort.
This issue is very annoying in terms of user experience; furthermore, it keeps the "download app" message permanently fixed at the top of the screen.
Is there anything that can be done about this? Thanks.

@pasilva Can you please tell us more about exact device?

@Suty
Hi Suty,
The problem seems independent of the device type.
It manifests in exactly the same way on both my laptops: a Lenovo ThinkPad T490 (Intel Core i5) and a Surface Pro 5th Gen (Intel Core i7)—both running Windows 11 Pro.
Both have touchscreens with integrated Intel graphics and relatively small displays (11.5" and 13.5") set to a resolution of 1920 x 1080.
As soon as the zoom level or font size is set above a certain threshold, Windy decides it is running on an Android tablet and prompts me to download the corresponding app from the Play Store (and act like is running on a phone).
This is clearly an automatic adjustment built into the HTML code for device detection.
Thank you. -
@pasilva Yes, this seems to be a problem with the detection of the mobile/tablet device. However, you mentioned setting of the font size, so when you keep it on the default setup, it displays normal desktop UI?
