Irish meteorologists have very good knowledge and are keeping a close eye on the evolution of "Ophelia".

mainland Portugal? No.
Ophelia will pass between Azores and Madeira.
Due to southern winds Portugal will "feel" relatively high (for October) temperatures (max 33C for the weekend). -

Link to Landfall by Windy. Category 1, or maybe "Post-Tropical" Ophelia Will make landfall with gusts going up to 105 mph, 174 km/h, 91 knots, 12 bft, 47.4 m/s.

New track makes landfall between Galway and Westport, Ireland. UK not to be harmed, the storm moves northeast while it loses strength by the size of Ireland. -

Our forecasting systems are good but I tend to follow a Facebook page for more accurate info, "Irish Weather Online".These guys are right nerds when it comes to weather and they are generally right too. Worth a like if interested. Will be keeping a close eye on this storm or as we say here in Ireland "Good drying weather for the clothes". :P

It has claimed its first victim in Co. Waterford. So please listen to what the authorities are saying and stay indoors.

Also, the to strong and hot southern winds on previous days over Portugal
triggered wildfires. The CO concentration charts show that.

Only getting around to this now because electricity was gone for days. Very high impact storm, although it was an Ex-Hurricane. It sure felt like a Hurricane!! High damage across all of Ireland which unfortunately also caused the deaths of 3 people. "The strongest eastern Atlantic hurricane on records" apparently
