Tide Forecast on Windy
-
-
It seems that semi dirurnal tides are being "predicted" on the northwestgulf coast of Florida. We have diurnal tides here and therefore the tide data provided is of no use. Maybe you could provide some clarification on why you have two high tides and two low tides daily in a place where that does not occur. Thanks.
Id like to add that i love the icons on the screen that's genius.

Although slightly useful, without a tidal graph option you have to leave Windy to make your own graph. At present it is easier to switch on the Navionics app ( or some other app) to look at tidal height in 3 or 4 hours time etc. Also can the option to have it in meters or feet be switched . I wouldn't think anybody would want to work in both?

@ivo
Recently lost my favorite tide app. We use tide tables every day so I was beyond happy to see it here. bolded text -

@wharfrat Yes, I find it hard to tell on the current popup which day I'm looking at ... see this figure ( image url)
-
I must admit it is not really clear.
-
Handy, I have in the past had to go to another app for tide times. Could we get a favourites seting for this information.?
-
@chevy64 Hello, tide forecast is available in the menu. Do you mean any other settings?
-
This is a couple years after my first post to this thread and I still find myself using other apps to check the tides. (Ones with graphs) First of all it's quicker unless I keep my tides layer active, and it's just easier to read.
You can absolutely discern the information you need from how the information is presented in Windy, but it's so much easier to consume and see the entire picture when it's plotted over time and height. You can quickly spot aberrations at a glance instead of having to read text. One of the very best things about Windy is the colored wind bar/graph. I only wish the same could be applied to other data as well.
It could be one of the "Display as:" options that launch other graphs that Windy already uses. (Wave, WInd, Meteor., etc...)

As a professional sailor, I can tell you it looks really nice.
——> But please, please, please do not use feet for tides. Or at least make it possible to use meters.
-
@mathijsb_
Meters are available !I never use feet but there are some countries using the imperial units for tide heights.
-
@idefix37 ah I see now! Thanks! It would be amazing if it is possible to change between feet and metres.
How did you get the sailor icon? -
@mathijsb_
I agree. There is no reason to keep ‘feet’ as first unit as there are very few countries using it for tides.Join a group to get the icon

I would think amount of users would be more important the amount of countries in that respect. What I don't understand is why it just can't be set as a preference in settings like most other units? Then everybody wins. Right?

@idefix37 ah perfect. Thanks a lot!

I live on a small island on the west coast of Canada ( near Sidney BC) so wind and tides are both important info for boating! The new tide feature is a welcome addition and seems to be fairly accurate so far. The odd date formate like 18.2 through me at first. It would be nice to see that changed.
Eventually a line graph plot when turning iPhone or iPad in landscape mode would be sweet for tide tables! -
Fantastic, works fine for me on the Chesapeake. FYI I do use feet for depth just because I have an instant feel for it and it's what's on my charts and my depth sounder, though it doesn't really matter Ft or M. I wish the tide current info could be included in the route planning tool.

Tieden sind gut. Ich wünschte mir aber einen etwas längeren Zeitraum als 3 Tage, um besser planen zu können.
Gruß, Petra -
Love the tides feature
